TypeSnip — Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 4, 2026
TypeSnip is a Chrome browser extension that expands typed shortcuts into full text snippets. This policy describes what data TypeSnip handles and what it does not.
What TypeSnip stores
- Your snippets (the shortcuts and expansion text you create), the extension's on/off setting, and — if you purchase Pro — your license key and its activation status.
- All of this is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage. It is never uploaded, synced to our servers, or shared with anyone. We do not operate any servers.
What TypeSnip does NOT do
- It does not collect, read, store, or transmit what you type. The content script only matches your keystrokes against your own saved shortcuts, entirely on your device, and ignores password fields.
- It does not collect personal information, browsing history, page content, or analytics of any kind.
- It does not use cookies, trackers, or third-party analytics.
- It does not sell, transfer, or share any data with third parties.
The only network request
If you activate a Pro license, TypeSnip makes a single HTTPS request to api.gumroad.com (Gumroad, Inc. — our payment processor) containing only your license key, to verify the purchase. No other data is sent. Gumroad's own privacy policy is available at gumroad.com/privacy. TypeSnip makes no other network requests of any kind.
Payments
Pro purchases are processed entirely by Gumroad. TypeSnip never sees or handles your payment details.
Data removal
Uninstalling the extension deletes all locally stored data (snippets, settings, license state). Nothing persists anywhere else, because nothing was ever uploaded.
Changes to this policy
Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
